Leather is a great natural material that is malleable an individual's shape as well as offering breathability and comfort. Sealed nappa leathers are less permeable than aniline leather which offer vintage style colour shades and finishes that tend to be more eye-catching desirable. It is important to look after your leather and it in turn will serve you better. Always store leather and sheepskin in a well aired area at room temperature. Never store in direct sunlight or close to a heat source such as radiator or airing cupboard.
Whilst we offer a small range of very easy to use and simple leather care products which are fine for general care it can be useful to know that there are specialist leather care manufacturers who offer products for more specific leather requirements. A company that we have happened to come across is ‘colourlock.net’, who offer a wide variety of products to deal with scuffs, stains and general repair on aniline, nappa, cow hide or suede. These guys appear to know their stuff; they even have helpful videos on how to use their products!
We haven’t got round to testing any products from colourlock.net, so please ensure you read the instructions fully before using any product and always test first on an inconspicuous area such as the inner waistband in the side seam where it will be hardly visible just in case the product reacts with the leather (this can happen depending on the substances within the treatment product).
